Behind The Lens

Location

The Valle Verzasca is a valley in the Locarno district of the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland. The magical jade green waters of the Verzasca river flow peacefully over smooth polished rocks, passing under the picturesque double arches of the Ponte dei Salti in Lavertezzo.

Time

I got up very early in the morning to take this picture. First, because of the nice morning light and second, more important, to get a picture without tourists on the bridge.

Lighting

Al around the valley are very high mountains. So for the first sunrays, I have to wait on a rock in the midle of the river.

Equipment

My Sony alpha 65 with a wide angle Objective (10-20mm) and a tripod.

Inspiration

The bridge "ponte romano" also called "dei salti" (jump bridge) crosses the Verzasca and Lavertezzo river and is a typical medieval construction made of stone. After its partial destruction occured in 1868 it has been reconstructed in 1960. I know this place since childhood and love the clear water, the polished rocks and the nice bridge.

Editing

Yes, I made some little optimations in Lightroom. (Contrast, Deepthness, etc..)

In my camera bag

My Sony alpha 65 with a 16-200m Objective. A second battery and a lot of memory cards. If I go out to take landscape pictures, I have my wide angle objective with me.

Feedback

In the kanton Tessin, the south part of Switzerland, you will find some more stone bridges. But the Ponte dei Salti is the most famous of them.
