I wanted to create a fantasy portrait for the Surreal contest that Betashell is running at the moment. I started off with a headshot I'd taken in Paris last year and built the image around that. The background is a hand drawn sketch I scanned into the computer. The Orb of light is made up of a number of light painting images I made. The tattoo's on the hands where drawings that I scanned into the computer and blended onto the hands. It was all put together in Photoshop with fine detailing done in Corel Painter 12.
