Location
This was taken during the 'Tower of London Remembers' installation commemorating those poor souls who lost their life in the First World WarTime
This would have been taken mid afternoon, it was a very overcast day that only added to the drama of what I was experiencing. Around there were hordes of people all standing a kind of hush, everybody was very respectful of the intent of the installation and what it was there to represent.Lighting
Overcast days are my favourite as you can always pull out the detail in the clouds - blue sky's are dull!Equipment
The photo was taken with a Nikon d7100 and either a 18-55mm lens or 55-200 mm lens. No tripod was used.Inspiration
I loved the way the sea of red cascades from the Tower of London, pooling around it's base. To me, it was very dramatic and original. The Poppy, being an international symbol of remembrance serves to inform the emotion behind the installation. I also liked the juxtaposition of the modern buildings in the background. To me, it signifies that things move on, that life moves and progresses.Editing
The image was pushed a HDR filter and then fine tuned using 'Snapseed' and 'Photoshop Express' on an Ipad.In my camera bag
The camera ('natch) a 18-55mm, 55-200m, 200-300mm, a 35mm and a speed light. Also a small hip flask containing some JD - it comes in handy!Feedback
In any picture I try to achieve a feeling of drama, of being in the moment. To try and capture an unusual angle or activity or even sentiment. And take lots of pictures and discard lots of pictures, only keep and show the best.
