I absolutely love old black and white movies, but what I love more are the publicity shots that went along with them.
The work of one particular photographer - Eugene R. Richee always catches my eye. His lighting is (I think) beautiful, but exposes everything about the face without losing details - a work of art really. This is my first attempt to capture something resembling it without use of any post process at all (because he certainly didnt use any, and I dont know how!). Richee died quite some time ago with very little known about him. I only hope wherever he is that he's not laughing too hard at my attempt!
