This is such a great capture! The beautiful coloring of the sky and sea draws our eyes in and leads us to be impacted by the silhouetted ship. This color combination makes the pirate ship seem more sinister and foreboding. Great shot!

I waited 20 minutes before sunset and wanted on a cloudy day to ensure the reflections gave me the desired effect

Nikon D7100 lens with 55 -300 F5.6 kit lens

Inspiration

I love boats and like the silhoutte this boat achieved.

Editing

Yes, reduced exposure and changed it to a bluer tone.

In my camera bag

D7100 with 50mm f1.8g 16 -55 f3-5.6 kit lens and 55 -300mm kit lens. I like to acheive photos with kit lens as it proves its not all about the kit!

Feedback

take the shot as a silhouette shot but take it about 20 mins before sunset shooting in Raw to allow you to make the basic light adjustments. Make sure it is cloudy with heavy dark clouds. Really simple
