Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my friends old apartment on the edge of downtown Denver. We were enjoying some coffee, the sunrise was incredible. Felt the washout/lens flare effect gave a modern nostalgic ambiance.

Time

It was an awesome sunrise. I had to capture it. So sometime in the early am.

Lighting

Lighting was perfect for the editing of the photo. I like to visualize how the photo I'm taking could look in post production. My camera is also my phone at the time. So those perfect #nofilter shots are few and far between. Though with today's technology we are not really limited, there are a mind numbing number of editing and creative options now.

Equipment

I took this shot with my iPhone5. No flash or tripod. I used the stock Camera app.

Inspiration

The sunrise inspired me. Or maybe it was more the way the sun light was hitting the city.

Editing

Used Photoshop to adjust the value to Black and White, also tweeked the exposure a bit while in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

iPhone ver6+, recently just acquired the use of a FujiFilm FinePix 5 w/ stock lens. I keep the afterlight app on my phone for editing.

Feedback

It's been a long time sense I have worked with a camera camera, I can only explain what I do with my iPhone Camera app. Play with your light meter. There are few options to worry about. Just don't go with the point and click. Also think of the future of the photo, how you can apply post effects if you are really trying for a photo with a certain feel or value. Experiment, have fun, and shoot shoot shoot.
