Location
I made this photo at the Jacksonville Zoo. I was there with my family and we were taking rest stop and I noticed this Cardinal in the grass about ten feet away. I thought it was a figurine as it was just sitting there. I focused on it and then it blinked.Time
It was mid-day around noon.Lighting
Keep the scene consistent to reduce contrast and use a lens hood.Equipment
Nikon D300 with 200-400mm NikkorInspiration
I was curious as to why this bird was just sitting in the grass watching everyone walk by.Editing
Straight out the camera, slight crop to align. I didn't want to edit it but to show the actual blemishes in the beak.In my camera bag
Two bodies, a 11-24 or 17-35, a 70-200 or a 200-400mm, 1.4x TC.Feedback
Always be on the lookout for the interesting as they are often fleeting and hard to recreate.
