This photo was taken in my home. Every time my two granddaughters and great grandson come over, they always gather at the piano and do their thing.Time
This was taken one Sunday evening. We finished Sunday dinner and they were ready to play. I can't tell you how many different photos I've taken of them on the piano. Perhaps one of the three will be a musician!!Lighting
There is an oblong lamp on the piano and I kept shooting until I got the right one. I shot this photo in manual mode and I played with the settings until I got it right. They were constantly moving so I had to be real patient.Equipment
I hand held my Canon T2i with the kit len. I didn't use a flash It's all light from the lamp.Inspiration
I always take photos of my family when we gather for dinner, holidays or just because. I think it's important to capture moments that will be remembered for a long time. I think it's fun for kids to see what they looked like when they were young.Editing
I cropped the photo a little but I didn't do anything more. This is really a once in a life time shot and I got it!In my camera bag
I carry three lens, flash, two batteries, and a battery charger.Feedback
To capture a shot like this one check out the lighting. Take a test shot to determine if it's what you're trying to get. Keep moving; get multiple POV. Set your camera to continuous shoot because kids move quick. Get their attention with regular conversation. Create a festive atmosphere to make them comfortable. Take a break and interact with them. Show them the photo and give them a big compliment. This photo is in a frame in my home and they love seeing their cute little faces in a frame. Then they are off to the piano. They are my favorite subjects. I love those little ones.
