Behind The Lens

Location

This Image was taken in Southern California while I was out for a walk. It is a Walkway made of Bamboo, Metal and Stained Concrete. I really like how the lines from the structure lead your eyes down the path enticing you to keep walking. I am a trained "Travel & Studio" Photographer with a passion for Architectural/Abstract Photography.

Time

This was taken around 1pm and it was a bit cold outside. I remember hearing the sound of water splashing against rocks just down the walkway to the left. If you continued down the path you would come across a man made (small) waterfall. It was really a beautiful location and I intend to go back with my DSLR.

Lighting

The Lighting was great since it was a cloudy but bright day. This allowed me to use the available Natural lighting.

Equipment

This was taken handheld with a Sony Bloggie which has a non-changeable Lens and no flash. It does have a 12mp resolution which is just enough for a good amount of Pixels.

Inspiration

I had just finished having a great meal with my Grandfather and as we left the Restaurant and I looked around I noticed this Walkway in the distance. Immediately, I knew I had to walk over and see the Incredible Architecture ( always carrying a camera with me ).

Editing

The only post-processing that I added was a bit more Contrast, increased Brightness ( since this day was a bit cloudy ) and a slightly heavier Saturation just enough to bring out the Stained Concrete and green grass in the background.

In my camera bag

My equipment bag consists of a Canon 6d - this camera is Full Frame and has a partial magnesium body to reduce weight. I also keep a flash and a soft box ( that goes over the flash head to make the light softer )with Extra AA batteries for those moments that require Fill Light. The best item I have invested in is a Vertical Grip ( this holds 2 batteries and allows for quick vertical shots ) and don't I always carry 2 extra batteries so I can keep taking images.

Feedback

When capturing images of Architecture try to lead the viewer around the image using Lines, Colors and Shapes. Your main objective should be the Composition of the Photograph. This will keep it Interesting and capture the Viewer's Attention.
