Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken from my back garden on the night of the Supermoon. Luckily no street lamps at the back. It's a smallish town on the edge of the Brecon Beacons.

Time

Around 9ish at night. The cat was pleased to have a bit of company on her evening garden patrol.

Lighting

Not much, I switched off the kitchen light in case that made some difference on the moon. It definately made a difference to my ability to set the camera and undo the chocolates. Thank god for head torches...

Equipment

Sony Slt A35 with Minolta AF 100-300 tele zoom and then only just a tripod no remote shutter control didn't have one then. Hat. Rolos.

Inspiration

For a beginner when summer's over and all the bees and butterflies had gone off (moaning about the paperazzi) the moon was the next target!

Editing

I'm not up to that stage yet but quite liked it just as it was.

In my camera bag

Spare battery, some other lenses, a blue filter I've yet to make work and a packet of rolos...

Feedback

I left the zoom on infinity then let the camera auto focus. Played with settings until it looked ok and then switched to manual focus to take photo. I've got brighter ones but the detail seemed sharper on the dimmer shots not sure why. So much to learn :-) ISO200 f/16 and 1/160. Always have appropriate confectionary close by?
