Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my yard; I am self taught, and this was one of the first shots that got me hooked on becoming a photographer.

Time

It was in the evening in June somewhere around 7pm. It had been a pretty rainy morning, by the afternoon it had stopped raining, and by the evening this intense fog rolled in.

Lighting

I have not added any type of lighting at all; the lighting outside was just perfect!

Equipment

This was shot with my Android Cell Phone. Taking a photo like this with my cell phone inspired me to get into photography and buy a proper camera; I thought, imagine what I could do with a real camera; and I have not stopped since!

Inspiration

Hanging out in my kitchen, having a coffee, I looked out the window and saw this wall of fog creeping onto my field. I was mesmerized by how thick it was and how beautiful it looked, so I ran outside and grabbed a bunch of photos before the fog disappeared.

Editing

No, I left the photo as is.

In my camera bag

As I have just recently gotten into photography, I don't have much yet. I carry the essentials, and for me that would be: My camera, an extra battery, and an extra SD card. My camera is a Sony RX100, and I absolutely love it! I have been teaching myself with this camera for a little while now, and it takes such beautiful photos!

Feedback

I'm going to state the obvious here, but, the most important aspect to focus on, is the weather. Keep and eye on it, constantly. We all know the weather changes often, but if you're not consciously watching it, you can miss some pretty spectacular moments. With this photo, the fog only stayed around for a few minutes, I was lucky enough to catch it as it was crawling in, and was able to take a bunch of photos of this bench/field, and a few other shots around my place. And of course, my last piece of advice would be to have fun! If you're having fun it will show.
