Location
This photo was taken at Como Jetty in South Perth Suburb, Perth, Western Australia. It was the second time I have tried taken sunset photosTime
It was taken in the golden hours around 6.30PM. I got there 2 hours earlier to get a good angle and composition.Lighting
The lighting was amazing. I was taking some photos of the jetty when the sun was coming down. Out of sudden, I saw all the boats on the river gather around to watch the beauty of sunset. I quickly changed to a new angle and pointing my camera at those boats. I was lucky that there was a bigger boat was sitting just right at the sun which created more drama for the shot. The sunlight just hit right where I wanted on the boat. It was amazingEquipment
I used my beloved nikon d610 with a Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD on a Slik F750 tripod.Inspiration
I was amazed by all the great photos of sunset on the internet, therefore I thought myself why don't I once try to do it?Editing
I used Lightroom my post-proceessing. What I did was 1. Cropping the image to the composition I want. 2. Adding contrast 3. Color correction and colour grading 4. Sharping the imageIn my camera bag
I always pack my Nikon d610 with AF-S NIKKOR 24-85 mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR, Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm 1.4G and the Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6. Everything is packed in a Lowepro Messenger 150 because I want light weight.Feedback
Always plan ahead. Get up there earlier because we may encounter some problems. For example the location where I took this photo is next to one of the main freeway in Perth, therefore it was pretty hard for me to find a car park. I was using my navigation to the location, however it brought me right at the middle of freeway. I had to drive all the way to the next exit for around 2km and then turned back and tried to find the location myself. If I hadn't go there earlier, I would have missed this shot
