Behind The Lens

Location

Believe it or not this is on location in the local salon Lancaster CA.

Time

This shot was done about 9 in the morning. we had soft light coming in through the window.

Lighting

This is a on location photoshoot. I partnered with a local salon. This is a modern women photography with a hint of glamour. I like photographing women. I make a point to understand their dream photoshoot, ask how would they like to be photograph. Every photoshoot is customized for my subject, I sketch the entire photo session prior the photoshoot.

Equipment

I shoot with Canon Mark iii, but this was done with Canon 50D and 35mm F1.4 L lens. I love this lens on my 50D only.

Inspiration

Women love looking and feeling beautiful. I want every women to feel and look beautiful, to look at their images and love what they see. Love who you are and the world will love you.

Editing

Post processing is very easy, I fix blemishes, smooth the skin, WB, doge the pupils of the eyes just half moon shape burn the outer edge of the pupils and dodge the white aria just half moon shape again. Depending on the image I may add haze. If the window is two small then I would extend the creamy white aria by clone and stamp or just with a brush tool on low 50 % opacity.

In my camera bag

Canon 5D Mark iii, Canon 50mm F1.2 L, Canon 24-104 F4 L. Manfred tripod, Canon Flash, and the flash bender.

Feedback

This is such an easy backlit shot I get the creamy white background in camera every time. I cover the window with sheer white fabric, if the sun is to harsh I double the fabric. I have two reflectors on both side of my subject, you can use just one big one two. I made my own reflector with banner stand and reflective fabric. I measure the light focusing on the eye (evaluative setting on my camera) the camera will read two bright, if you take a picture now the subject will be too dark. I slow down the shutter by 2 stops. Take a picture now you will get creamy background well lit subject perfect right off the camera.
