Behind The Lens

Location

It was taken on a bypass in the heart of Atlanta. I love depthbof field and though the colors would create an amazing shot

Time

This is actually probably one of my favorites because the colors of the city around add to the overall tone. This was due to the shot being taken at night when street lights and other lights of the city were on.

Lighting

The lighting were created by the city lights of the city. Rather than having lighting created by yours truly, I made use of the lights the city produces which ,in my opinion, are way more interesting when shot in a photograph.

Equipment

Surprisingly, this picture was taken on a Nikon J2, a compact systems camera, which shows that great shots can come out of something that may not be considered a professional camera.

Inspiration

Well, I always look for various shot but most times I am not looking for a shot. I just kind of stumble upon it. This was the case with this picture. I was out with friends and taking pictures in the city when the idea to photograph the fence at an angle popped into my mind. I thought it would make a great shot and it ended up being a favorite of mine.

Editing

With this picture, there is very little post processing but it is there. I added a little saturation to give the colors slightly more pop and then some contrast and a little bit of clarity so more detail was shown in the fencing. I always want the picture to look natural when I am done with it so I don't like to over process

In my camera bag

I actually usually have my camera with 2 interchangeable lenses. On is a 10-30 vr Nikkor and the other is a 30-100 vr Nikkor lens

Feedback

When taking a shot like this, it is all about depth of field the environment and how they complement each other. The contrast between focused and out of focus objects give it a type atmospheric quality about it. While you have the focused image in the foreground, there are blends and bokeh of colors in the background resulting in a picture that presents sharp and smooth qualities all in one.
