Location
This shot was taken from the Marriot Hotel Westminster looking over the River Thames to London's Westend; with a section of the London Eye in the foregroundTime
18:00hrs on 25th December 2013Lighting
Natural light shot. 20 second exposureEquipment
Canon EOS 5D Mark II Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM lense Manfrotto tripod and headInspiration
The colour of the lights, especially the blue hue of the London EyeEditing
Shot in RAW so some colour correction in Lightroom; especially reducing the Temp slightly to bring out the Blues. Increased clarity/contrast slightly and sharpened it a bit to help with the lights in the backgound (gives that starry effect) and helps with reflections in the water. In my camera bag

Plan ahead; know in advance the type of shot you want and why. I knew I was staying in this particular hotel with a view of London's Westend, the river and the London Eye. So I planned for a long exposure shot to capture all the colours and reflections etc. Therefore, I made sure I had my tripod and the appropriate lens with me.
