This photo was taken in my studio in Johannesburg where I also do graphic design work. This particular shoot was for a clients jewellery advert. The photo was almost an after thought, we were about to call it a day when I saw the bottle of cherries that I used previously for a food shot. Samantha is always up for any experiment and when I suggested we try this sticky photo she was inTime
It was midday in studioLighting
I used an Elichrom soft box from one side as I wanted to keep the grey background, it is my favorite color as it always gives a true color representation of the models skin toneEquipment
I shoot with a Canon Mk 2 and 3, this shot was done with my macro lens at F22 using a tripod.Inspiration
The model already had cherry red lips for the previous photos we took, so seeing the bottle on the table made it an instant inspirationEditing
I love playing in photoshop, although I am self taught as my graphic design career started before the luxury of Photoshop But with this image all I did was cropping it a bit closer, a soft S curve and voila! In my camera bag
I have Canon Mk2 and 3 plus a 24-100 lens and the Macro 105 Canon lens. I almost always use my tripod in the studio.Feedback
I believe that any photo must be planned, and while you are creating the photo you planned a whole lot of other images will come to life......but you have to plan the starting point otherwise all the images you take starts looking the same. Do not be afraid of getting your studio and or your model dirty while experimenting as it will inhibit any good ideas that may be born from your original plan
