The recently opened Huntington Park, in downtown Spokane, WA, presents a new and exciting view the lower Spokane Falls and Monroe Street Bridge. For the ultimate experience, I'm told the gondola ride is like no other.Time
After a subpar day at the office, I grabbed my camera bag and headed to the park. Working in downtown Spokane allows me to walk to the park in less than 10 minutes. I arrived at the park around 5pm and shot for about an hour. This was my favorite shot from that evening.Lighting
The sun had just broken through the clouds on a overcast June day. You can see the reflective rays on the upper left side of the gondolas. The ambient light also created a nice contract on the bridge.Equipment
I used my Canon 6d, Canon 24-105mm F/4L & Manfrotto tripod.Inspiration
It was a beautiful afternoon/evening and I knew that photography would be an excellent way to unwind after work. My inspiration was a desire to capture a unique perspective of the often photographed Monroe Street Bridge.Editing
The bracketed photos were processed in Photomatix Pro. Photoshop allowed me to enhance the sky and other general clean up.In my camera bag
I rarely leave the house without my Canon 6d. A passion for landscape and architectural photography means more often than not the Canon 17-40mm F/4L is on the camera. The camera bag also includes lens: Canon 24-105mm F/4, 3 primes (50mm, 85mm & 100mm) & 70-300mm. In the smaller pouches you will find: hot shoe bubble level, a handful of filters, speedlite, extra batteries, lens cloths, wireless shutter release...Feedback
Have fun! Although photography has turned into a small business for myself I always make time for fun shoots. Case in point, this Monday I had a real estate shoot and a commercial building shoot for a local construction company. On the way i took the opportunity to photograph Post Falls Dam & some buffalo at a farm on the Idaho/Washington state line.
