This photo was taken at a Train Station in Flagstaff, Arizona.Time
My friend Sue and I went down to the train station around 5 pm to take some long exposure photo of the trains. I positioned my camera on a tri-pod and then postitioned my friend on the platform. I then focused on my friend and turned off the auto focus so it wouldn't keep refocusing. Then we waited. It only took around 5 minutes before we could hear the train coming. As the train passed I continued to shoot one after another until it passed. When I looked at the images on the back of my camera I wasn't sure what I was seeing. I never expected to see the backgound coming thru on the train. My first thought was," Am I was getting a double exposure?" I looked closer and saw that I was getting the space between the train cars. I was so excited to get home and download the images into my computer.Lighting
Not really. I had plenty of light at the time of day.Equipment
This was taken with my old camera, Cannon T1i on a tripod with a Sigma Lens 17-70.Inspiration
I wanted to experitment with some long exposure photos. I was still pretty new at this photography game back in 2012.Editing
Very little post processing was necessary. I cropped it very little and adjusted the levels in photoshop. I then increased the Contrast and Saturation a touch. That's all.In my camera bag
My new camera today is a T3i and my Sigma 17-70. I also use my Canon zoom 55-250 quite a bit. As for flash, I use a Youguo Speedlight YN560.Feedback
When trying to take a long exposure be sure and try many different settings. You may be surprised like I was. :)
