Driving to visit a friend early and took a wrong turn which worked out ok on this nice country lane. Autumn sneaks in all confused like a GB 4x100 relay athlete at the baton change over and must think...was that really a summer??? All 4 days of it!
Well I for one am happy to see Autumn with the great colours we have around and will be hoping for some snow at Winter as well.

Wonderful shot - you'll have to make more wrong turns in the future! Congratulations.

Hello again,
I know this place well, Ashcombe leading to Ashcombe Towers, this is a good spot for snow pictures, I have taken sveral in the past.

Behind The Lens
Location
On a country road near a woodland walk on the back road to Dawlish in Devon.Time
Taken early in the morning on the way to the coast to get a sunrise shot. The weather did not work out so driving back takes you high up into the mist rolling in which was lucky timing really.Lighting
The mist that came in for a short while really made this shot as the tunnel of trees opened at the end of the road and the light was creeping through just enough to pull the eye in.Equipment
Nikon D5000, 18-55mm lens, UV filter, Tripod and a costa coffee.Inspiration
The light at the end of the road is the reason I stopped my travel to take this shot. If I had not been taking this short cut and seen it in the rear view mirror it would never of happened.Editing
A bit of dodge and burn in PS and play with some Nik filters. In my camera bag
I like to get off the routes so I try to travel light if I can. I will have a D7100 and a couple of lenses (mainly the kit 18-55mm), a few screw on filters, remote shutter release, Flash gun, a spare battery or 2, lens cloth and a mars bar. If I am on Dartmoor I may have my spare D5000 with a 200mm lens as at any point or turning any corner animals can pop up and by the time I change lenses they will be gone or scared off.Feedback
Do not over do the reading and videos and just get out and shoot. I always found that learning by mistakes was the best learning. I would look at image sites like Viewbug for inspiration then go out in full manual mode and work with the camera and try new things. Parts I felt could be better I would then read/watch for tips and they made a lot more sense as I could feel that moment and picture it in my head and the tweaks needed next time.
