This photo was taken at White Sands National Monument in New Mexico just as the sun had set.Time
It was fall and the sun had just set, so it was probably around 6pm, mountain time.Lighting
The sun was setting with beautiful pink colors in the sky, so I took it using the natural light to give that warm, glowy feeling.Equipment
I used a Nikon D610, no flash, no tripod.Inspiration
Miss Nadia is such a gorgeous little lady and she looked into the distance with a thoughtful gaze that I had to snap that shot.Editing
I enhanced the colors of that natural sky, added a touch of warmth to the image, and then added Jessica Drossin's Glitter, Dust, & Fireflies overlays to add a little "magic".In my camera bag

Let kids just be kids. You'll create the most beautiful images of kids if they don't feel forced into fake smiles. Sometimes, just observing them and letting them do what they want is when you'll get the best image. Obviously, letting them run loose depends on the child and other circumstances, but at White Sands National Monument, the kids tend to always have a good time and like to explore and play on the sandy dunes.
