In a paludarium in my living room.Time
11.22 in the morning.Lighting
There was daylight in the living room and in the paludaria were 2 light sources, so to minimize the influence of daylight, I holded my camera against the glass of the paludaria. I didn't use a flashlight, because this often scares the frog and jumps away or will close its eyes.Equipment
I used a Canon 450D with a Canon EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS and a Canon 500D Close-up Lens. The camera was handheld against the window as I was standing on a stepladder because of the hight of the paludarium.Inspiration
The famous red eyes! Because this frog is nocturnal, it sleeps during daylight and is it a challenge to take a good picture with its eyes wide open. Since I like to capture the animal as natural as possible, I don't like to take the animal out of its enclosure, but I just wait for the right moment. The automatic sprinkles had just sprayed rain water and the frog had woken up from this.Editing
I edited this picture using Corel PaintShop Pro, basic processing, as contrast, saturation, and a little more focus.In my camera bag
In meanwhile I have upgraded my gear to a Canon EOS60D and my favorite lenses are a Canon 70-300mm L IS and a Canon 100mm L IS.Feedback
When taking pictures in enclosures, especially of exotic reptiles and amphibians, you often have to deal with different light sources, so it is important you know something about the light adjustments of your camera. As I am a supporter of animal friendly and natural pictures, you need to have patience.
