Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the historic district of downtown Fernandina Beach Florida. Right next to an antique shop. I just really liked the style of the old truck and the coloring so I figured why not?

Time

Early afternoon very wind and overcast. Late fall or early winter in Florida.

Lighting

The day was windy and overcast which for me is my favorite weather to photograph in. Because I enjoy the opportunities it provides me when taking the initial photograph and post-processing/editing. It made some colors stand out more to me like the kind of soft coloring of the truck and darker colors of the background.

Equipment

I used a Samsung Ex-2 with the kit lens without flash. I also used a filter for uv and reflective surfaces stacked on top of each other.

Inspiration

I just decided to go somewhere I do not usually go and see what happens. I had not previously been to the Fernandina Beach area before so I was not sure what to expect. But the way the truck was positioned and the lighting coupled with the background made for a perfect setting to capture. I just really enjoyed the area. It is a place that lends itself very well to photography. The old buildings and alleyways blend together.

Editing

I use Corel and Photoshop CC and Lightroom. Mostly my editing is minimal. Just sharpening, zooming and lighting.

In my camera bag

Currently I mostly use my Samsung EX-2 with after market conversion lens one is telephoto and the other macro. I usually have filters for reflective surfaces and other various filters for uv lighting ect.

Feedback

Yes! Be open minded to just getting out and photographing! Any practice is better than no practice, and if, you take a photo you do not like well you can keep it for later editing or just delete it and move on. Don't be afraid to push your own skills and experiment with settings.
