Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local race track in Souther California

Time

This was snapped in the early afternoon.

Lighting

This is a natural light portrait. No extra lighting equipment was used.

Equipment

This was shot with my Canon 7D using my Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS

Inspiration

This shot was just before a race was about to begin. She had just sat down in the kart, and he was giving her a pre-race pep-talk. I wanted to capture the moment just before the action began.

Editing

I performed some very light editing. Minor tweaks to WB, contrast, and general settings. Nothing fancy.

In my camera bag

In my bag I have the following: -Canon 7D with a battery grip. -Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS -Tokina ATX-Pro 28-80mm f/2.8 -2 Yongnuo 560 flash guns

Feedback

My advice to anyone that is trying to capture a candid moment like this is to keep your eyes open. Focus on your subjects not on your camera. Too many wonderful moments pass by when you are not paying attention. Lock down you settings before hand and let your creativity flow!
