Hi, i am a novice and was just wondering how you take a photo like this, do you need software or is it a camera effect. Love it by the way.

Location
This photo was taken at the local beach near my place. You can find me wandering here quite often.Time
I still remember this day, it was when my buddy's newlywed bro and relatives came to visit the beach. It was a warm evening with dramatic sky and the sun was about to set. This was taken on September 12, 2013 around 6:30PMLighting
It was probably the Golden Hour, the scene was saturated with natural orange/yellow tones. I really liked the reflections on the wet sand, and wanted to capture that in all its glory.Equipment
I shot this on my phone, Samsung Galaxy S5 with no tripod or additional equipments. It has a decent 16MP camera with f/2.2. This shot actually required a tripod which I didn't have. So I sat down and placed the phone on my knee to get stable image.Inspiration
It was those intense reflections that pumped me to experiment. I wanted to utilize that light, shadow and reflection. And my buddy was happy to join me.Editing
Invisible people do require post-processing. ???? I shot two images, one with the subject standing still and the other without the subject, but his slippers were still kept there. Then used photoshop to mask out the subject leaving behind his reflections and slippers. In my camera bag
I don't own a DSLR yet, so no bags to carry around. But I do have my phone with me always.Feedback
Carry a tripod and look for good reflections/shadows to play with. Take the first shot with the subject casting his reflection in front of the camera, ask him carefully remove his shoe, and move away from the frame. Then take your next shot ,the background without the subject. You can try this at beach ,near puddles or with shadows.
