I arrived early, before the sun rose over the gorge so I could be well into the woods by the time the sun was in the position that I wanted - once the light began to pour through the trees, I was about 4 miles into my hike and ready to capture the beauty of my surroundingsEquipment

Think holistically about the photo - what do you want the viewer's eyes to follow? For this photo, I start with the little whirlpool on the bottom left, work my way through the center grouping of rocks/rapids, and finish with a view of the trees in the backdrop. My eyes flow through the photo and capture something new with every review of this same image
