Location
This picture was taken just 100 yards from my house in Shropshire. We are very lucky to live just off some common land in a place called Clee Hill which offers commanding views across Shropshire. On a clear day hills in Wales and Gloucestershire are visible approximately 40 - 50 miles away!Time
Having two dogs to walk every morning before work gets me out and about reasonably early so as the autumn progresses I'm usually out and about around sunrise. We'd had some good valley mists over the past few days but on this particular morning the light was particularly good, very golden.Lighting
I got lucky!Equipment
I use a Nikon D300 body and for this image a mk1 nikkor 70-200mm at 200mm . It was taken handheld.Inspiration
I love where I live and enjoy capturing the elements as seasons pass. Every morning when I look out of the window the scene changes. On this morning it was more remarkable than most and warranted a picture for sure.Editing
I'm no expert at post processing but do remember adding some contrast to bring out the trees and a touch of saturation to enhance the golden light. In my camera bag
Always a macro lens, I use an old nikkor 55mm f2.8. You never know what small details you might want to capture while out and about. I cam't afford a massive prime for wildlife so also carry a 1.7x teleconverter to put in front of the 70-200mm if I see something that needs more reach.Feedback
I used a zoom lens to flatten the perspective and to concentrate on one area of the scene. The vista in front of me was so vast I think I'd have struggled to get the same impact from a wide angle shot.
