Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at Port Germein in South Australia - a sleepy little village on the eastern side of Spencer Gulf. North of Adelaide this town has a population of around 250 people.

Time

we were there around Mid day.

Lighting

Taken in natural lighting.

Equipment

I used a Sony A77 body with a Sony 18-250 Zoom lens. I was also using a polarizing filter. No other gear and was hand held.

Inspiration

Port Germein is worth a visit if only for its Jetty - known as the longest Jetty in the southern hemisphere. The jetty was long due to the shallow water there. The jetty was reduced to 1532m following storm damage - it is the damaged section featured in this photo.

Editing

Minor tweaking only using Apple's Aperture

In my camera bag

I go for light weight but do believe in a double camera system. I carry a Sony A700 and A77. The lens I use are the 18-250 Zoom mentioned above. I also carry a Sony 50mm Macro and a Sony 500mm reflex lens.

Feedback

Aspect is everything - I was lying flat on the Jetty to get this prospective - don't be afraid to use different angles and also to be a little embarrassed by passerbys giving you weird looks
