Americas Cup World Series - San Diego, CA. These High Performance Catamarans are 44ft long, 22ft across, 77ft tall and weigh about 3,000 lbs. They are capable of sailing at 2-3x the wind speed and able to accelerate rapidly. For the 2013 Americas Cup in San Francisco the event was changed to be more fan interactive and pure sailing. During 2011-2012 the Americas Cup teams would compete in a World Series in the AC45 Boats --- http:--www.youtube.com-watch?v=57A4ae_iQas&feature=relmfu --- Then the actual Americas Cup in 2013 will be raced using the AC72 boats. --- Unfortunately the week of the ACWS races in San Diego started off very wet, cold, and dense fog.
