Great shot. It was the most amazing installation. I wished I could have seen it.

Location
This is the Tower of London, EnglandTime
It was early afternoon so there were lots of people moving around making it difficult to compose the photograph.Lighting
It was quite a dull day with no colour in the sky but I think this lack of colour added to the mood of the cold stone and made the poppies a richer red in contrast.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor 18-105 mm lens, hand held.Inspiration
I had heard about this amazing creative tribute to the fallen soldiers in the First World War and made a special trip to see it, and photograph it, for myself. I felt that this particular viewpoint was the most poignant with the poppies cascading down the wall representing the flow of blood on the battlefields.Editing
Just a very slight sharpening was needed since the raw image was quite soft.In my camera bag
A Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor 18-105 mm lens plus a Nikkor 70-300 mm telephoto lens. A Nikon SS-400 flash unit plus a spare battery and SanDisk cards. A tripod if doing landscape or low light photography.Feedback
Walk around the subject rather than be happy with the first viewpoint. (Also, in a crowded location, try and find a spot clear of all the selfie sticks and ipads which frequently block off your view!
