Location
The photo was taken in Trafalgar Square, London, just in front of the National Gallery.Time
This photo was taken back in October 2014. A few days before I had sold my Nikon D7000 and bought an Olympus omd-em5. I had been looking for a small camera for a while: I needed a camera easy to carry around and that inspired me everyday. It was around 2pm, I took the Central Line from Mile End and went to Central London with my new camera. I was walking around when, around 4pm in Trafalgar Square, I saw this peculiar artist. During his show he started doing something reminding of a mime and I started taking pictures. I loved his posture so I shot this photo.Lighting
There was a beautiful, natural light that day so I just used that, plus one of the options from the filter of the camera.Equipment
This was shot with a Olympus omd em-5, with an 12-50mm f/3.5 Olympus Lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
I was trying to do a photo that brought people back in the old days. Something like an old black-and-white, silent film by Charlie Chaplin.Editing
I don’t like to spend too much time with post production, this is why I love my Olympus: some filters are so good and inspirational. For this particular picture I simply used the filter from my camera, it was perfect for what I was looking for.In my camera bag
I like to travel light, I want to be free and move fast (and I don’t want to come home exhausted!). Most of the time in my bag I have my Olympus omd-em5 with the 12-50mm + 45mm f1/8 and my small flash. I also carry my lovely analogue Olympus OM10 with the 24mm f2/8. I love this camera, it has something magical. My uncle gave it to me as a present, together with the OM1 and OM2 and other analogue cameras.Feedback
My suggestion is “LESS IS MORE”. As a musician this rule helps me bring to life some ideas in a clean and quick way. Sometimes if you have lots of equipment and you spend too much time with post production, you risk to lose the inspiration and the magic that that photo is trying to convey.
