Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at my favorite beach spot on Sullivan’s Island, SC.

Time

One of my favorite things to do is to get out to the beach early before the sunrise. This was one of those days.

Lighting

This little guy was caught between the waves and his hole in the sand. He just stopped and sat there. So, I got down on my stomach and tried to see my favorite spot from his point of view.

Equipment

This was one of the first photos that made me decide to seek my photography degree. I captured this with a little point and shoot Fuji Finepix S8000 that I borrowed from a friend.

Inspiration

These little guys are so fast that rarely do you get a chance to see them must less have time to do a “photo shoot”. I jumped at the chance.

Editing

Very little post processing was done to this photo. I just adjusted the contrast and exposure.

In my camera bag

These days I carry an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III with an array of lenses. I also carry a tripod and flash. All of which, because of the compact size fit nicely into a small camera bag. It’s terrific!

Feedback

If you’re hunting ghost crabs, I recommend packing your patience as well as a spare set of clothes. Get up early and be willing to get down in the sand on their level. Most of all, enjoying the process and just have fun!!!
