Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Award winning Enchanted Forest in Pitlochry, Scotland. Enchanted Forest is a music and light show built around Faskally Loch each October and draws in thousands of visitors per day.

Time

It was taken between 9 and 10pm.

Lighting

Lighting here is a nightmare. Every time you blink your view has changed. I have an almost identical viewpoint taken a minute before which look completely different. Just shooting without a flash worked for me.

Equipment

All I can tell you at the moment was that I used a Nikon D3200 camera, I had borrowed this from a friend for the night. It was taken hand-held with no tri or monopod. I used no flash either.

Inspiration

I thought that this was a great viewpoint. I had stood here for a while and watched to lighting change how the forest looked from this angle and decided to try a few shots.

Editing

There was no post production at all on this photo. Mainly because I am simply an amatuer, and although I have a photoshop programme, I have no idea how to use it properly.

In my camera bag

My current camera is a Sony A33, with it I have 2 lenses, an 18-55 and a 75-300.

Feedback

Advice? None at all I'm afraid. I am a hobby photographer and know very little. Various friends who are photographers have tried to give me advice for going here, but none of them have ever been to the forest so cannot understand how quickly the view changes colour. I found that the easiest thing to do was just point and shoot. I took over 200 photos at the forest in 2013 and again in 2014. Out of both years I have maybe 40 that I am happy with and willing to let people see.
