Behind The Lens

Location

I took this shot in Charleston South Carolina, while pete was mesmorized by a deer.

Time

it was in the late afternoon

Lighting

I always work with natural light, especially when it comes to animals, but i generally try to use natural lighting may be sometimes with a reflector.

Equipment

I used a Canon 60D with a 70mmx200mm lens

Inspiration

I am always intrigued by extreme close ups, it reveal the true feeling of the subject.

Editing

No post processing when it comes to shooting animals, the moment to capture is essential and there is no time to have an elaborate set up, doing so will prevent concentration on the subject.

In my camera bag

I always carry my favorite lens 70mmx200mm, a wide angle lens, a 50 mm.

Feedback

Be very patient and try to forsee the next expression, next move of the subject. Stay far enough as to not disturb the animal and let it feel and live without any disturbances. That is why i recommend to use a zoom lens in order to be far enough from the subject and still be able to take close ups.
