Behind The Lens

Location

I was taking care of the animals at my friend's small farm while they were away.

Time

It was the middle of the day, but just after it rained. I grabbed my camera and ran out to catch all of the beautiful rain drops everywhere!

Lighting

There were still a lot of clouds which really diffused the light, but they were getting thinner so every once in a while a nice burst of sunshine came through.

Equipment

My canon 7d and 100mm macro lens

Inspiration

Their dog Athena was so full of expression. She was pretty disappointed that she couldn't come inside after running around in the mud and just kept giving me this look.

Editing

Not too much on this image. It already had so much detail. I just needed to sharpen the eyes a bit and did a little cleanup of any mud and dirt that took away from her expression.

In my camera bag

Now days I have a canon 5D Mark III which i absolutely love. I usually just carry around my 2 favorite prime lenses (50mm and 100mm macro).

Feedback

I love shooting with my macro lens. It really captures so much detail. I have to take great care to make sure the eyes are perfectly in focus so the picture really pops.
