I love this model and the dramatic form she has presented to you. Great job in B&W. Stunning.

Location
This photograph was taken at my home studio in Cambridge. I don't have a very flashy home studio, I did quite a lot of studio work whilst studying photography but never really liked studio lighting. So when I set up my home studio I created the space around natural light so that I didn't have to use any studio lighting for my shoots.Time
I remember this shoot and this shot, as it was captured within my last few frames. This shoot was my first personal portfolio shoots of the Autumn. My home studio is south facing so timing the lighting is crucial. On this occasion I opted to shoot late morning-lunch to get the right lighting. One thing I love about doing shoots in the autumn is the natural light, it seems to give a natural glow which is a real joy to capture as a photographer. This shot was captured on 23rd September 2014 at 1pm.Lighting
Working with natural light can be very challenging. Timing is everything. My model was quite pale/olivey and the dress was very dark so I didn't want her to appear washed out at all on the white backdrop.Equipment
This image was taken on my first DSLR a Canon 1000D 18-55mm lens. No flash just reflectors for bouncing the natural light. I sometimes use a tripod but didn't on this occasion.Inspiration
The wardrobe inspired this shot. The original theme of the shoot was anonymity and we used the hat to keep the face hidden but when we did the wardrobe change to this dress, it felt really dramatic like she should be doing a Tango or salsa or some kind of dramatic dance. So we decided to try a few dance poses and the shot came together quite naturally.Editing
This shot was captured in B&W which I find is more flattering for portraits and covers flaws more naturally. So other than brightness and contrast and correcting the white balance I haven't done anything. So many places that accept photography submissions are very strict about how much editing they accept so I like to do as little as possible. In my camera bag
I'm a Canon kinda girl. I have my Canon EOS 1000D always with me with a standard 18-55mm. I have my awesome Canon 7D mkII with 18-135mm lens plus some really cool ND filters, flashgun and last but certainly not least I have a Gopro hero session which I absolutely love.Feedback
If I could take this shot again I would capture it in RAW, sadly I captured it in JPG which is ok but RAW is much better in terms of resolution. Also I would of taken the shot in colour. Although I love shooting in B&W I would have really liked the colour version of this shot.
