Behind The Lens

Location

Ecola State Park on the coast of Oregon, looking south. The large rock in the distance is Haystack Rock offshore of the quaint little beach community of Cannon Beach, OR.

Time

Early afternoon.

Lighting

No, just natural sunlight.

Equipment

Hand-held Nikon D70S with 18-70 mm lens.

Inspiration

Growing in Portland, I've always been enchanted by Ecola SP. It's tranquil, picturesque, and never crowded. Lots of photo opportunities.

Editing

Probably just minor Photoshop tweaking.

In my camera bag

Nikon D300S with two lenses: a Nikkor 18-200 mm zoom (primary) and a Nikkor 70-300 mm zoom (secondary), plus a Lensbaby kit for occasional special effects.

Feedback

I think it's important with a wide view seascape like this to include something in the foreground (e.g., grass) to impart a sense of depth to the picture.
