Location
This photo was taken in a studio which I really love working in. It's a combination of both a photo studio and tango dance hall. The feeling created in it's surroundings is very inspirational to work in.Time
This photo was taken on a very hot day, an August afternoon. Lights were not helping much to reduce the heat since we had no air conditioning installed yet. Luckily enough there was a cool draft which provided us some cool fresh air to work in.Lighting
I wanted to picture the model in a way that the photo may intrude other type of meanings to different viewers. For this I used one side light which also darkened the background which was available and give all the focus to the model.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3000, with an 50 - 200 f/1.4 lens and a Bowen's side light. Having aperture f/8, ISO 100 and 10/800 exposure.Inspiration
The model I worked with was inspired to take some natural beauty photographs and we worked together to accomplish some natural shots. This portrait was inspired through the idea of giving the feeling of a morning wake up. I wanted also to make use of the surface top to give a further characteristic to the photo and include a subtle reflection.Editing
The photo does not include much of post-processing, there were some fine scratches on the surface top which I had to remove. On the model there is some enhancement sharpening and whitening of the eye and fine smoothness of the skin. I do not removing all the pores when smoothing, I enjoy having photos which are more natural and realistic. In my camera bag
To start with I always make sure I have enough memory and batteries available. There are times which I will need to have the bag readily available for any quick opportunity which may arise. For the time being I am using my D3000 Nikon camera, 18 -50 lens which I frequently use, 50 -200 which I enjoy using for portrait photography and Sigma EF -610 DG Super Flash which I find super handy, easy to use and great light companion.Feedback
When working with models, It is very important to have good communication, explaining what you have in mind to capture, this way the model may adapt to a particular feeling or expression needed in the photo. I was always fascinated by paintings which depict a 'Ciaro Scuro', the feeling given is deep and this is what mainly attracts me to capture such photos. I suggest to always follow your inspiration and let your passion lead its way!
