Behind The Lens

Location

There's a large field behind my house. I always go there for inspiration and a lot of my photos are taken there.

Time

Around noon.

Lighting

It was foggy and dreary out which is always my favorite weather to take photos in. With the cloud cover you get that natural soft box and the fog adds some emotion which I always gravitate towards.

Equipment

I used my canon 60D on some cheap tripod I got off amazon for like $10. The lens I used was my Rokinon 85mm T1.2 cine lens. It's my favorite lens to use because of how great the glass is.

Inspiration

I was under a lot of stress with school and work at the time. I wanted to use the fog as a sense of being surrounded or closed in. Fog can be so thick and it surrounds you which reminded me of how much pressure I was feeling to perform and excel. Having the papers float arround me was a way to add another layer of something closing in on me.

Editing

This photo is actually several different photos stitched together using the Benzier Method.

In my camera bag

I normally carry just about all my lenses and my canon 60D. Canon 50mm f1.8, canon 35mm f2, rokinon cine 16mm, rokinon cine 85mm t1.2. A couple extra batteries and a couple extra memory cards.

Feedback

Think clearly about the emotion or feeling you want to capture. Ask yourself, what drives that emotion? What causes that feeling? From there you can begin to visualize your idea.
