Behind The Lens

Location

This wonderful photo was taken in the exquisite caverns in Antelope Canyon. Antelope Canyon is located near Glen Canyon in Arizona. To get there, I flew in an otter plane across the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and then took a off road jeep to it's location.

Time

I woke up at around 6 AM to catch my plane. When I got to Antelope Canyon it was around 8 AM. This was the perfect time to capture this moment because the sun light was pouring in to the entrace of the canyon.

Lighting

All of my lighting is natural sunlight. I used no made man lighting resources, not even the flash on my camera. Depending on where you are in the canyon, the sun shines brightly on the walls or not at all. The sunlight at the entrace of the canyon added a natural orange glow to the walls, where as in other places the walls look white or grey.

Equipment

I captured this photo with my Motorola Droid Maxx phone camera. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

On my summer vacation, my family and I went Arizona to visit the National Parks. Even though Antelope Canyon was not a National Park, we stopped there too. As our jeep pulled up to the entrance, I could see the walls glowing a magestic orange. The moment was so beautiful I could not help but snap my camera.

Editing

I did mess around with the editing, but I decided that the original photo was more beautiful without any editing. In the end I did no editing. This is the original as captured.

In my camera bag

At the moment, since I am only 13, I do not have any other equipment other than the camera on my phone. I am saving up to buy a real camera and more equipment.

Feedback

My advice, for you, is that you should just trust your gut. Don't worry about all the technical stuff, that's what I did and remember to take your time. If you don't like the way the picture comes out then just try,try again.
