Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in a place called Jupiter Artland - it is a lovely outdoor Art Gallery situated in a small town in West Lothian, Scotland. The sculpture is part of a group of 5 called Weeping Girls and is by an artist called Laura Ford. I chose this one because the light gave the sculpture a quiet melancholic atmosphere.Time
This image was taken around 3.00, just as the sun was starting to set, but gave the sculpture a beautiful glow.Lighting
I wasnted the image to have a quiet melancholic atmosphere about it and I think this captured it beautifully.Equipment
This was shot using a Nikon D600 and a 24-70mm 2.8 Nikon lensInspiration
I love Jupiter Artland for its quiet, thought-provoking artwork and as the light was shining so beautifully on this wonderful piece of art I knew I just had to capture it.Editing
I don't make a habit of doing too much post-processing. In fact this image is the raw file (transferred to jpeg) so no post-processing whatsoever on this one.In my camera bag
I always carry my Nikon D600 and 24-70mm 2.8 Nikon lens. I also have the wide angle 14-24mm 2.8 Nikon, but only carry this when I know I'm shooting indoors or landscape - it is a bulky, heavy lens. My other favourite lens is the 70-200 2.8mm Nikon, and again due to its size I only use this when shooting wildlife or certain buildings.Feedback
If you live in central Scotland - this place is a photographer's dream - the place is open all day and there is no time limit on how long you can stay, so get there at first light and stay until the sun starts to set. There are plenty of art works, sculptures, wildlife and buildings to practice on - I'd say get yourself along there and have fun!
