Red anemone's buds about to bloom - photographed in Central Park, New York. Red anemones are associated with the death of Adonis, lover of Aphrodite in Greek myth. Adonis was killed by a wild boar when he was out hunting. They say red anemones sprang out from the ground where his blood dropped. The buds are about to bloom, but it seems to me that they are giving an air of sorrow and sense of loss like the story told about Aphrodite and Adonis.
