This really is exceptional. The first thing that stood out to me was the clarity. Combine that with the subject, colours and lighting and it's just sublime. I'm seriously jealous of this shot. Wow :)

Both subjects serenely posing ans if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Great colors & obviously a great lens. Sort of historic shot for the offsprings and one of the best photos seen for quite a while !

Was this taken with off camera flash. It looks like beautiful ambient with a soft touch of flash....If so, I love the componation.

So sorry for your loss. But you have created a wonderful memorial to Leo with this picture. Your daughter is just stunning and i love a girl who knows how to wear a cap with style!

Cute shot of the past, have no idea how you got the cat to sit still long enough for a shot though????

Wonderful composition and lighting. Great sense that an interesting story lies behind the image.

Location
This photo was taken near Red Rock National Park in Southern Nevada.Time
This was shot in open shade about an hour before sunset.Lighting
This is a natural light portrait, my daughter was shot in open shade and I placed her facing a bright open sky to ensure her face would be lit and to get catch lights in her eyes.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 6D and a Canon 135L. This is my absolute favorite combination and I rarely change it up.Inspiration
This photo is very dear to me. Early in the morning Friday, Sept. 19th I received a phone call from a neighbor, he had found my poor kitty Leo in his yard. A coyote had attacked and killed my poor boy Leo. I was heartbroken. I created this photo as a tribute to him and to memorialize him for my daughter. I created this photo the same day I got the news.Editing
Yes this is a composite photo. I brought in Leo from a previous photo I had of him.In my camera bag
Canon 6D, Canon 70-200 2.8, Canon 135L, Canon 40mm 2.8 pancake.Feedback
When shooting a natural light portrait, it is best to shoot during the golden hour. Remember to place your subject facing a bit open sky (not with the sun) to light up their face and eyes. To achieve a nice background blur, Shoot with a long lens and wide aperture, and place your subject far away from the background.
