A cool 04:30 am start to a hot spring day at Death Valley National Park. The forecast projected a high of 109 degrees F in late April. Shadows and contrasts were in order to optimize a cloudless sunrise. This was my second trip to this sandy playground and it seems the variety of subject matter is endless. Instead of struggling to reach the top of the highest dune, I settled in on this area along the eastern part of the expansive dune field, as there were absolutely NO footprints to be found (well except for mine on the way back).
