The PPG Building in downtown Pittsburgh PA USA was one of the last major projects fabricated in the company's Ford City, PA, USA plant before it closed in 1993. The plant was the birthplace of the plate glass industry in the USA and at one time employed 5,200 people working 3 shifts 24-7-365. The town is named after the founder of this industry, John B. Ford, and a statue of this industrialist sits in the borough park located in the middle of town.
