Fabulous shot. Well composed and great b+w rendering. Love the shine on the rocks and the craggy old pylons. Congrats on a wonderful image and on being featured

Love this, it has an almost unwordly appearance to it. The blurred water appears more like fog than water.

This image looks as though it may have been taken after dark(?)Well done! I love the way the highlights are perfectly resolved while the shadows appear to be slightly underexposed.

Location
This photo was taken at Porlock weir in Somerset part of Exmoor national park.Time
It was 11.00 on a cold November morning, I remember because I was contemplating going to the pub and sitting by a fire with a pint, I'm glad I didn'tLighting
It was such a drab and dreary day, the lighting was very flat but seemed to work for this photograph.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3 with a 24-700 f2.8 lens with a 10stop filter to slow down the exposure to 3 minutes, camera was mounted on a tripod, and the view finder was blacked out to reduce any light leaksInspiration
I had travelled to expire to get some fall colours in trees and valleys, unfortunately as is often the case the weather didn't play ball. So I made the decision to take moody photographs and use the gloomy weather to my advantage. I also wanted to try some very long exposure shots the sea over pebbles and rocks seemed as good as place as any to experiment and have some fun.Editing
image was converted in to black and white using nik silver effex and adobe lightroom to fine tune contrast and brightness. In my camera bag
Normally I like to travel light as possible, most of the time i will carry a Nikon J1 with a 10-30mm lens, for a specific photo trip I usually carry a Nikon D600 and 24-70 Sb600 flash, if I am doing an event or a wedding I will carry all of the above plus a Nikon D3, Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 a sb800 flash, nikkor 16mm fish eye, Nikkor 60mm Micro lens and Elinchron Quadra Ranger battery pack plus 2 flash headsFeedback
Wrap up warm make sure your camera is on a firm base such as a sturdy try pod, if your camera doesn't have more than a 30sec exposure use the Bulb setting, remote release cord and stop watch. Most of all be patient have fun experimenting and you will be rewarded
