Valencia Concert Hall roof in Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias ( City of Arts and Sciences ) Valencia. Normally the building is covered in a mosaic of white ceramic tiles which usually look amazing in the sun. However the structure of the building was been refurbished on the time of visit, but I think have the unrefined surface made for a better photograph in this instance.

Completely agree with Vince 542.
The composition and exposure is truly great in this image of an iconic architectural masterpiece. All of the fantastic shapes and forms from this angle are exaggerated and compliment each other, while having excellent detail and tonality

Unusually for me it was very early, I am ususally in bed until 9.00am but I couldn't sleep and went for a walk around the Science park when no one else was about . It was about 5.30amLighting
At this time of morning the roads were totally clear, so the light was very clear with none of that City HazeEquipment
Nikon D600 a 24-70mm F2.8 lens 58mm @f8 1/8secInspiration
I needed a panel of ten photographs for a photography course I was doing, I know this area in Valencia very well and thought it would be the perfect subject. I decided to shoot it in black white rather than colour as most photographs of this area are in colour.Editing
Converted to black and white and adjusted levels using Nik Silver efex proIn my camera bag
Dont have much in my bag usually, normally a small DSLR (I have since gone mirrorless) and 24-70mm lens a spare battery , memory card and a small selection of filtersFeedback
Have a plan in your head of what you want to photograph, and at what time of day it will look its best and then be able to adapt the plan should things change i.e. the weather. Get up early!!!
