Location
The photo was taken in Lisbon, Portugal.Time
It was about five or six pm and I was very tired because I had been shooting all day. I notice this man staring steel smoking and I found him very interesting. He's a character, this man could have been taken out from a movie.Lighting
I approached the man and asked if I could take a picture of him. Between the time of my question and the time of his answer (which is seconds), I putted the camera at a low angle without he noticing and, in fact, I´ve already taken one or two photos of him, before he's ansewr. This is one of the photos that I took without looking into the viewfinder or the LCD.Equipment
This was shot with Fujifilm X20, 7.1 mm focal length.Inspiration
Christophe Debon was the street photographer that influenced me the most. It was because of him, that I started to shoot with wide-angle lenses and near of people to interact with them. As he said once, and I'm quoting him now; "This is no longer observation, or the voyeurism of a distant photographer, but a quasi-terroristic approach.". Was mainly this sentence that change my style of photography. Bruce Gilden was a great influence on me in the way that motivated me to start to use the flash in the streets. To finish, Tatsuo Suzuki is also a great influence on me, specially his portraits and gives me motivation to be in the streets everyday with the camera waiting for great moments.Editing
Yes, I usually use Lightroom. I add some contrast and clarity. Finally I added a vignette. In my camera bag
When I go out shooting, I just bring with me my Fujifilm X20.Feedback
Go to your favorite streets over and over again a shoot what's interesting you. Capture the moments and subjects with mystery. Try to photograph people that usually no one would notice or take a picture of. Because they are the streets, they are life and have histories in their faces to be tell.
