Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at my local nature spot, Bedfont lakes, Bedfont, feltham. while I was out walking with my family and dog.

Time

It was, 29th March 2013, 13.20pm

Lighting

I felt really lucky the way the sun started to come out, but wasn't to bright and the clouds where misty so it dulled the sun light just right way.I really like this photo the way the post and bolts are in focus and draws your eye to it, The weathered look really took my eye, saw the way the fence looked, Thought what would it look like if i went up close to it, and saw the way it looked and set the camera to make the shot. Waited for the light and focus to be right and took it.

Equipment

This shot was taken with a Nikon D3200 and the lens was AF-S DX VR Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G, set at ISO200, 55mm, f/9, 1/125. I rested the camera on the side of the fence so i didn't need a tripod and the lighting is natural.

Inspiration

I've looked at macro photography, looking close at things and thought i could try close up shot and started putting the camera at different angles (sideways, looking up or having the camera above looking down), Trying to find the shots i like, (to have my touch on it).

Editing

I did put it though iPhoto and started looking at different lighting i could do with this program, but it didn't have the look i wanted and desided it didn't need anything doing to it.

In my camera bag

The bits I've got in my bag are a couple of lenses 18-55mm, 55-200mm and a 35mm, also I've got some coloured filters, a nice light weight tripod, extra batteries and a secondhand flash unit.

Feedback

Something I've been told, Is to try and look at what your look at it from a different way (Don't be afraid to try something different) I've been surprised the way they can look different, And take as many photos as you can because the lighting does change one second to the next, Also get to know your camera and what the setting are there for.
