Pretty young lady, eyes well focus and nice portrait pose, but somehow face looks over exposed. Good eye contact.....nicely capture in B&W.

Location
This was shot during the early days of my photography. Armed with a 50mm f1.8 lens and a rusty old used DSLR, I dragged this friend of mine to a park close to my home in Hyderabad and captured this moment.Time
Hyderabad is known for its cruel summer heat. And I remember pushing her to get ready and meet me at the location on a hot afternoon mid-summer. Not for once did she complain about the discomfort while I clicked away.Lighting
I wanted to create a timeless image. Something she can look at a decade or two later and still relate to herself. I decided upon lighting which will show her true beauty in a simple, natural and wholesome way. So this image was shot in the shadow of a tree on a mid-summer day.Equipment
A Canon 1000D with a Canon 50mm F1.8 prime was all I had at my disposal at the time of this shot.Inspiration
As a beginner, I had tried various styles/genres and was trying to discover my strengths and weaknesses. I used to always watch myself coming back to portraits in monochrome. It is then I stuck upon the idea of creating timeless portraits. My models and audience loved the fact that they could see themselves in a whole new way without the distractions of colours, clothing or trends. This inspired me to venture deep into such portraits.Editing
During my earlier days of photography, I had not much knowledge about editing or Photoshop. I used to use simple tools like Google Picasa Editor or trial versions of Photoshop. This image required minimal post-processing apart from adjusting lighting, contrasts, and healing few skin imperfections. In my camera bag
After 11 years of practicing photography, I feel I have come a full circle. I began using a Canon 1000D with a 50mm F1.8 and moved up to several pair of lenses and DSLR body. However, I am now back to basics. If you look into my bag today, you will find a Canon 80D, a newer variant of 50mm F1.8, and a Sigma Art 18-35 F1.8. I have a Tamron 24-70 F2.8 G2 stacked away as a backup.Feedback
If there is one rule I follow when I set out to shoot portraits, it is believing in the beauty of the person. Carry with you a pair of eyes that sees beauty in the person you are meeting. Unless you don't admire what you are seeing and what you are capturing, you cannot expect others to do the same.
