Behind The Lens

Location

I am retired self thought amateur photographer with live with infrared . I bought infrared filter and try shooting and editing in PS

Time

I am learning to use tripod ,because infrared needs long exposure in day time. It was sunny day in September ,Sun was high making long shadow I liked .

Lighting

I love mysterious magical look of infrared photography, specially when sunny day can look like moonlight .

Equipment

I use mirror-less Fiji-film camera X-E1 which is light weight compare with D SLR camera I used have . Only lens "works" in my 14mm other lenses are more curved and made "light spot " in the center of image. No flash, tripod yes,I experimented with different ISO trying not to get too high to give me 4sec speed. It is try and error really,it is just beginning for me .

Inspiration

Photography could be overwhelming in any age I guess and is it important for amateur to figure out what would be best suitable. When I realized I can't be great landscape photographer in my age to get up or stay late to get twilight hour and travel beautiful places, infrared photography is best for me,because it can be done in "bad light " of the day when I like to be out! :-)

Editing

Yes editing is a "must" in infrared . First, WB has to be custom made in camera. Point camera on grass in sunlight to made custom WB it helps ,but still PS is necessary after . I am just learning myself ,if I know more I can share later with you!

In my camera bag

In my age I need to go "light" and if possible do not change lenses, I have one Fujifilm body with 14mm for my infrared experiments and another Fujifilm with 18-55 lens . Small bag with Polarizing filter and ND 10 filter ,tripod.

Feedback

I wish I know more to give advice ,but with $8o investment for infrared filter it is worth to experiment and live in imaginary World as I call it! :-)
